  1. Why would any one spend $20 for entry on a possible prize of $50? I read about being a freelance writer not to submit to these types of contest. Are they just using these as a fund raising gimmick?

  2. Phoenxman, I do think some of these might be fundraisers, but since I don’t have time to research contests in depth, I always tell people to do research and then make their own decisions. Some nonprofits do writing contests as fundraisers, so they’re not all just individuals trying to make a buck. (Though I see that a lot!) Thanks for posting.
