Chicken Soup call-out: Devotional stories for wives

Standard
Chicken Soup for the Soul:
Devotional Stories for Wives

One of the biggest roles that a woman can take on in her lifetime is to become a wife. It is easier to love during the early years of the relationship when everything is fresh and new. But it takes commitment and dedication to remain loving as the years go by, especially when children and the busyness of daily life can sometimes be overwhelming. If you have a devotion that speaks to the heart of marriage and the many challenges and rewards that are integral to being a wife, we invite you to submit your story. Our hope is that your personal story will inspire, comfort and encourage others who are going through — or about to embark on — the journey of being a wife. Please share your true stories written in the first person of no more than 500 words, along with an applicable Bible verse (from the NIV version of the Bible) and a 2-3 sentence prayer. If you have already submitted a story to the Devotional Stories for Wives database, please do not submit it again as we have received it.Stories should not have been previously published by Chicken Soup for the Soul or other major publications.

Here are some suggested topics, but we know you can think of many more:

  • Improving communication
  • Rising above the irritating habits
  • Praying for your husband
  • Military wives
  • Money problems
  • Uniting family traditions or religious beliefs
  • Aging together
  • Health issues and concerns
  • Making your marriage a priority
  • Inviting God into your marriage
  • Rekindling love

If your story is chosen, you will be a published author and your bio will be printed in the book if you so choose. You will also receive a check for $100 and 10 free copies of your book, worth more than $100. You will retain the copyright for your story, as well as the right to resell it.

Chicken Soup for the Soul: Messages from Heaven
101 Miraculous Stories of Signs from Beyond, Amazing Connections, and Love that Doesn’t Die

When our loved ones leave this world, our connection with them does not end. Death takes away their physical presence, but not their spirit, and we often sense them after they have gone. Sometimes we see or hear from them after they’ve passed, giving us signs and messages from beyond. We want to hear from you if you have experienced the other side or received a sign or signal from a loved one who has passed. Has someone who has died come to you in a dream? Given you counsel or comfort? Have you gone beyond, but returned to life with new knowledge, insight, or awareness? Have you intuitively known the moment someone died? Share your true, touching, and astounding stories about messages from heaven or your own experiences with dying and coming back.

This book is for everyone who has a story, whether religious or secular. Please note that since we see many stories about messages from heaven in the form of rainbows, bird, butterflies, and coins, we will only be able to use a few stories on those types of messages from beyond.

Here are some possible story topics, but we know you can think of more:

  • Words of wisdom from a loved one who has passed
  • Personal exchanges with a loved one who has passed
  • Omens or visions from beyond
  • Receiving guidance or lessons from a loved one who has passed
  • Revelations from beyond
  • Apparitions from beyond
  • Signs from beyond from a loved one
  • Knowing the exact moment someone passed

Please remember, we do not like “as told to” stories. Please write in the first person about yourself or someone close to you. If you ghostwrite a story for someone else we will list their name as the author. If a story was previously published, we will probably not use it unless it ran in a small circulation venue. Let us know where the story was previously published in the “Comments” section of the submission form. If the story was published in a past Chicken Soup for the Soul book, please do not submit it.

If your story is chosen, you will be a published author and your bio will be printed in the book if you so choose. You will also receive a check for $200 and 10 free copies of your book, worth more than $100. You will retain the copyright for your story and you will retain the right to resell it.

THIS IS A NEW ADDITION TO OUR SPRING 2012 LINE-UP, WITH A QUICK PRODUCTION SCHEDULE! DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS IS OCTOBER 3.

Chicken Soup for the Soul: Thanks Dad

101 Stories of Gratitude, Love, and Good Times

Jack Canfield, Mark Victor Hansen & Wendy Walker

Father’s Day will be here before you know it, and what better way to celebrate than to give your father a Chicken Soup for the Soul book with your own story in it! Share your stories of good times with your father. We are looking for funny, quirky, and unusual stories, as well as those heartwarming stories about the unique ways that our fathers help us and show their love for us.

We are not looking for eulogies, life stories, or very serious stories, as we already have plenty of those in the book. We are also not looking for stories about your children. This book is about Dad and for Dad, so let’s give our fathers a good time and a book that will make them smile.

We have about 75 great stories selected so far for this book, and are looking for 30 more. This is the first time that we have sent out an e-mail about this book, but many of you saw it listed on our website. We are reopening the database for Thanks Dad for two weeks, so if you have a great story about your father, we look forward to reading it.

We prefer stories and poems written in the first person of no more than 1,200 words. Stories should not have been previously published in our books or other major publications. Previous publication in school newsletters, local newspapers, and other small circulation venues is okay. Stories must be non-fiction.

If your story is chosen, you will be a published author and your bio will be printed in the book if you so choose. You will also receive a check for $200 and 10 free copies of your book, worth more than $100. You will retain the copyright for your story and you will retain the right to resell it.

SUBMISSIONS GO TO http://chickensoupforthesoul.com/form.asp?cid=submit_story.

DEADLINE IS DECEMBER 14, 2009. Book is scheduled for publication April 20, 2010, and you will receive your free copies in advance of that.
